CSA bagged the India NGO Award for the best NGO (Western Region), in the Small NGO category (below Rs 50 lakhs). CSA received the certification at a prestigious function presided over by Ms Hamida Sayeed, Member, Planning Commission, held in Delhi on the 30th March, 2009.
A joint initiative of The Resource Alliance and The Nand and Jeet Khemka Foundation, the Award is a recognition of the Best NGOs in India, across 3 categories- large, medium and small. The Award was instituted in 2006, with an aim to advance the country’s non-profit sector by promoting financial and organizational sustainability, and strengthening community support of civil society.
NGOs were evaluated for:
• Effective and sustainable mobilization of resources from the local community.
• The demonstration of efficient Management of resources, good governance practices, transparency and accountability.
• The impact of the services the NGO provides to the community it aims to serve.
