April 2006
A donation of children’s clothes and toys, was received from Bonsaii, Pune, a well-known Retailer of Children’s clothes and toys. The items were distributed to the children of 7 Marathawada Agencies.
A donation of paint was received from Nerolac Paints Ltd., Pune. The Paint was used to paint 2 of the 6 vocational centres at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra, Pune . The labor and civil repairs was extended by Solaris Fitness Centre.
May 2006
Eligible children get transferred.
On the basis of factual information (provided by us) on 121 children, languishing in 7 Marathawada agencies, the Dept. of Women and Child Development, Government of Maharashtra, issued transfer orders for eligible children. About 15 children were moved across agencies thus keeping open for them, the adoption option.
June 2006
Donations of craft articles, garments, cushion covers, bedspreads, etc were received from Craftsbridge Pvt. Ltd., Pune, for disposal through Garage sales.
July 2006
Garage sales for disposal of (left-over) toys and clothes from Bonsaii and donations from Craftsbridge , were held on the 1st/2nd and 21st respectively. Nucleus Mall and Sharada Arcade, donated the space for holding the sales.
August 2006
The Computer Centre at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra was inaugurated by Mr. Ashwani Kumar, Commissioner, Department of Women and Child Welfare, Government of Maharashtra, on the 16th August.

Kale Employee Participation
Presentations were made to Kale employees in the offices at Mumbai, Pune and Delhi.

Introductory workshop on 'Education through entertainment'
On the 25th October 07. CSA organised an introductory workshop on education through entertainment for the children in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udhyog Kendra – A State level Institution for care, protection and rehabilitation of children who are in the age group of 12 to 18 years. The purpose of the workshop was to create an interest in children in academics and also to inculcate good habits in them as well as boost their confidence level. Dr. Pradeep Agashe – a well-known educationalist, who is involved with innovative ways of teaching, conducted the workshop.
Workshop on HIV/AIDS
On the 26th October,07, 31 children from Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra. actively participated in a workshop on HIV/AIDS. Mrs. Triveny Khisty- Sr. Project Officer, Pathfinder international, conducted the workshop.
Workshop on Adoption procedures
On the 29th October, 07, a workshop organised in collaboration with Sunita Gutte Shishu Greh was oganised in Nanded. Social workers and other supervisory staff from Adoption agencies in Marathawada, prospective adoptive parents, and legal practitioners participated in the workshop. Mrs. Madhuri Abhayankar- Director, SOFOSH and reputed as an expert in the field of adoption, led the workshop.
Workshop on Childcare
On the 29th October 07, in a parallel event, Mrs.Sangita Pawar- an experienced social worker from SOFOSH and Mrs. Manjusha Thatte – an adoptive parent conducted a workshop for the Child Care workers from the Adoption agencies in Marathwada region. The sessions covered health and hygiene, nutrition and the importance of stimulation for the intellectual growth of the children.
Donation to SOFOSH
SOFOSH received a donation of Rs 20 lakhs for their facility for Special-Needs children from Clover Technologies Ltd., , Mumbai. The donation was facilitated by CSA.

Adoption Awareness
CSA has celebrated Adoption Awareness Week every year since inception. The objective has been to use the opportunity to create public awareness about Adoption.
On 11th November. 2006. 6 adoption agencies in Pune, participated in a day of fun and frolic for 75 children in the age group of 3 to 6 yrs. Fancy dress competition , music and dance, goodies and games were the highlights of the day.
On the 16th November 2006, CSA’s message on Adoption was aired by Radio Mirchi, Pune. Mr. A. S. Karanth, CEO, Bharat Forge, spoke as an Adoptive parent. Parag Walve, VP, Kale Consultants Ltd., and Managing Committee Member, CSA, spoke about CSA’s role in promoting Adoption in India.
Hutch Marathon
On the 26th November, 2006, approximately 80 CSA volunteers/Kale employees, participated in the Social Awareness building, Pune Marathon.
The Gymnasium donated by Solaris Health Club was made operational.

Revamped CSA website
The revamped CSA Website was launched. The new website is an exhaustive portal containing information on all aspects of adoption. An added feature is the incorporation of a micro-site for 7 Marathawada agencies thus making available information on children waiting for adoption, for the first time.
CSA Facilitation & Direct Placements
With our facilitation, and through enquiries received on our website, two and four children respectively, were referred for inter- country and in-country placement. The adoption process is on.
In consultation with the Chairman, Child Welfare Committee, paper work in several cases where the legal clearance for adoption was pending, was completed.

Promotional Hoardings
In an initiative to create awareness about children waiting for homes, CSA initiated an extensive outdoor campaign on Adoption. Hoardings designed by Wordsmith, Pune (as a donation) were set up in Pune city and on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The hoarding space was donated by Captions, Outdoor Publicity, Pune.
Standard Chartered Marathon in Mumbai
CSA Volunteers from Kale Mumbai participated in the Standard Chartered Marathon held in Mumbai on the 21st January 2007.

Beatification of children’s playroom
On the 10th February 07, volunteers from CybageAsha- the CSR initiative of Cybage Software Pvt.Ltd., Pune joined hands with CSA to paint the children’s playroom and corridors of the Renuka Mahajan …. Characters and scenes from the famous ‘Jungle book’ were painted by about about 15 participating volunteers.
Bata shoes Pvt. Ltd has responded positively when we approached them for shoes for the 174 children residing in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra.
Contributions from others
Bonsaii, Nerolac Paints, Blow Plast, Nucleus Mall, Captions Outdoor promotions, Club Solaris, are the other corporate or business establishments who have joined hands with CSA for the cause of Adoption.
Advocacy Initiatives
Working Group to be set-up by the State Adoption Cell
CSA have initiated dialogue with the Commissioner, Department of Women and Child Welfare, Maharashtra for the establishment of a much-needed Working Group to facilitate the process of Adoption of the waiting children in the Marathawada agencies.
Ongoing training on computer hardware and MS-Word
Children in Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyog Kendra are attending the computer hardware / software classes conducted in the institution by CSA. This provides the children a basic exposure in computer hardware and software. We are planning to give advanced training for the children who have an aptitude for the same.
On-going training on spoken English
Spoken English classes are being conducted for school dropouts who are about to leave the institute.

Ranjana goes home
Ranjana- a three year old child, who was languishing in an agency in Latur due to the delay in processing her paper work, even though she has been selected by a family from the US almost A year ago, went home in March. CSA intervention was significant in removing bottlenecks and moving the case.
