A meeting of Attorneys of Adoption agencies in Orissa, was organized to examine judicial hurdles in the Adoption process and the need to work towards a standard process/court order. 7 advocates, 3 agency heads and 6 social workers from different licensed agencies participated.

CSA organized children’s event at Abhiruchi on the festival day of Makar Sankranti with the thought to make it sweet not just by giving sweets but also by leaving sweet memories. 45 children from different agencies like Saraswati Ashram, Observation Home, St. John Home and SOFOSH participated and had a day of fun.

A Training workshop for child care workers of Marathwada, Vidarbha and Ahmednagar adoption agencies was organized by CSA at Bharat Scout Ground, Sadashiv Peth, Pune. The resource persons included Mrs. Asha Awadhani, Program Director Child Care at BSSK, Mrs Aruna Take, Senior Child Development Worker, Mrs. Bhagyashree Nene, Assistant Program Director, Child Care, BSSK. Ms. Smita Mande, Clinical Psychologist.
The interactive workshop, the topics covered the care of a new born baby, Health, hygiene and nutrition, food plan for children, Common ailments, Child Care & Milestone Development, Emotional and Social Development & Language Development.

A District Level Awareness Programme on “Rehabilitation of Orphan children and adoption” was organized by Pallishree Mahila Samiti, Korua, Kendrapada jointly with CSA. ICDS workers from each block, ASA(Grassroots level health workers) from each PHC, Active Self help Groups(Women leaders, Active NGO representatives) participated in the program.

During Pune International Marathon (organized by Vodafone on 7th Dec 2008) approximately 40 CSA volunteers/Kale employees ran a distance of 4.5 Km from the Deccan area up to Nehru Stadium carrying attractive banners and placards conveying adoption messages. Among the celebrities present on the occasion were Priyanka Chopra and Rahul Bose.

CSA organized a workshop for Social workers and the decision makers of adoption agencies in Pune, Marathwada and Vidarbha region at Pachgani. Outbound Management Consultants provided the facilities at their campus. The 2-day programme was attended by representatives of Pune ,Marathwada and Vidarbha adoption agencies. The resource persons included Ms.Shubhada Hiwale Senior Social worker of Adoption coordination agency, Pune, Adv.Rajendra Agarwal, Dr.Meera oke, Child development specialist and Ms.Madhuri Abhyankar, Director of SOFOSH.

CSA organized a training programme on Quality Institutional care and alternative care for Orissa adoption agencies.
The 2-day programme was attended by representatives from 11 licensed adoption agencies (LAPA & RIPA), Other Child care & welfare agencies & Media representatives.
The resource persons included Mr. Sangramjit Nayak, former Under Secretary, Women & Child Development, and now Under Secretary, Science & Technology, Orissa, Mrs. Bijayini Das Member Secretary, Adoption Coordinating Agency, Miss Usha Das, Under Secretary, Women & Child Development, Mrs. Dipika Maharajsingh , Director SOFOSH, Pune and Advisor, CSA, Mrs. Sanjukta Mohanty Member Secretary, State Council for Child Welfare (Scrutiny Agency), Mr. SouryaSundar Das, Senior advocate, Orissa High Court and Mrs. Madhumita Das, Mental Health Specialist.

In collaboration with the Pune Women’s Council Centre, a legal awareness program on Women’s Rights, was conducted on the 12th June 08, at the State Home for Girls ,Mundhawa Advocate Mrs. Padmavati Kulkarni conducted the programme in which 36 girls participated.
